Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen Hanning who is a Professor at Northwestern and whose main area of research is with respect to Chinese Muslims. In the past he has studied political activism amongst Chinese Muslims. Currently he is doing some work related the History of the Soul. The most interesting aspect of his work is current project regarding the first complete Chinese translation of the Quran and the Chinese language reform in the 1930s. Truly fascinating stuff indeed.
Is Zhang Chengzhi’s ‘A History of the Soul’ translated in English. It’s a great read in Chinese!!!
